NO NO that would be the last thing I want !!I don't know why you shouldn't paint the same spot over and over again? Monet did it, ... and here a Dutch contemporary artist does it, Klaas Gubbels. And what about all those artists here in Holland painting along the beach for day on end?
But sometimes it's just a step left or right to get a good composition.I rather paint one tree for example then two who arn't not exactly behind each other, ... it saves time and effort.Simplify, simplify simplify, ... that's a good thing!
Tony - I love it! It has great character and atmosphere to it, also beautifully painted. Regards, Caroline Carroll.
Haha! You are full of surprises - I always thought you were a confirmed realist, Rene, not an iPad man You're right; the path by the side of the house is tricky. I've painted it before from the other side of the garden and that gets rid of the path problem but I didn't want to repeat it so soon. But actually it was the bottom of the path running into the corner which concerned me more. The top end I darkened so it joined the tree mass on the left of the cottage and I simplified to the right of the cottage into another dark tree mass to bring the building forward and to keep it simple. As for taking a lower angle, the River Bannow was at my back. Maybe you just wanted to see me fall in?
Stunner Tony! Rene must be Dutch or something ;-P.
Love a lot of things in this one, the colours the values the brushwork but I have my doubt about the composition. The leadinn run right off the painting in my mind, I'll guess when to road would point towards the house it would be a whole lot better. Maybe a lower standpoint would have fixed this. Fiddled a little with it, ... hope you don't mind.
Beautiful Painting Tony
