John,

Did not see this comment before I left yesterday to meetup but a good idea.  If people want to come out to Skerries it would be really interesting to get another take on the local coastline.  Joe May's is the local hostelry right on the harbour.  As you know Skerries harbour is build on a headland that comes out north and swings around west.  Therefore a sunset over water with a triple aspect west (land fall coastline, boats, sunset), north (landfall, sea, view of where the Mourne of Mountains sweap down to the sea, bench dedicated to Percy French) and east ( 3 small islands St.Patricks etc, Rockabil lighthouse, further south Lambay).  Parking is only 2E a day on the harbour so if early you can get your slot without having to carry equipment too far to find something interesting to paint. Also free parking on the headland (Red Island) nearby.

PS Balbriggan coastline town center is equally interesting but a convenient hostelry with parking I have not sussed yet. Another alternate would be Ardgillan Castle (has coffee shop) with sweeping sea views the house itself and 200 acres of grounds. They also do art exhibitions could be an opportunity!

This I think is from the Loughshinney side of rush - up among the market gardens. In fact I had to draw lambay closer to rush to get them both together - and indeed the water was full in by the time I'd finished. I've gone out north dub a lot as I live in Sutton - I'd like to drag the Plein Eire Dublin group up that way a bit - the furtherest I've got so far with them is Clontarf! We go on a First-Sat-Month regular paint-out (next is tomorrow 6/08, southside's turn - DunLaoire West Pier). We had alot the first few times out but since the numbers have dwindled. If you'd like to host a North Dublin one let me know - (I've suggested we alternate north-south-west (if in demand)) - you just have to nominate a good spot and a local hostelry!

Was wondering where you painted this on the Loughshinny side of Rush.  From the area myself (Skerries) where you can see Lambay closer to the coastal headlands.  Lovely work.

Yes - tide was in by the time I'd finished it! Sorry we did not meet when you were in Dublin during the summer; when we did to to Glendalough the weather was beautiful! I had some members of my extended family settle in Victoria and we visited them a few times(my wife has a bro in Seattle so its convenient!); my remaining cousin there retired back to Penticton for the snow and watersport, and we visited him there once too. I'll look you up next time I'm over!
