Plein Eire Dublin Paint-Outs

A 'Paint-Out' can be arranged by anyone. Even an impromptu session can be posted here if the weather is promising and you have an afternoon or a morning to spare. We try to meet regularly. Just decide on a time and a suitable venue and post a notice on the group page and 'Events'.

Time and location to be posted in advance both on "Plein Eire Dublin" and "Events" pages on this Plein Eire site.

RSVP on 'Events' for notice to be sent to you in the event of any change in plans or check this Plein Eire Dublin Group page on the morning of a paint-out .

  1. Nominate a time and location with reasonable painting prospects.
  2. Identify a local cafe or hostelry for artists to meet in before and after.
  3. Indicate if there is parking available nearby, and if its free or metered.
  4. Post the suggestion to 'Events'and copy and paste the link to the Comment Wall below on this page.

Members may also propose paint-outs at other times as suits them and ask for other members who may be available to join them.

Hi folks what about somewhere like Dalkey Quarry for next paint out, not sure what the coffee shop situation is like but it's a pretty dramatic location for plein eire.

Great job on the glass house it's an excellent picture, even more impressive given the grimness of the day that was in it, well done John and thanks for setting up the Dublin Plein Eire group great call.

Hi all,
Thank you all for turning out to Plein Air Dublin's Inaugural Paint Out at Farmleigh, last Sat 4th Sept; we had a very good turnout, and weather had cleared by the time we started. We decided, initially at least, to Paint Out the first Sat of the month: so next Outing is Sat, Oct 2nd: suggestions for venue please (some want to return to Farmleigh, another suggestion was Ringsend/South Bull Wall; I myself think we should not overlap with the Dublin Sketchers, who choose busy city centre arenas; to me "plein air" is more pastoral(!) and out of town; the canals were another suggestion (I have wanted to go to the 12th Lock in Castleknock for a while, but I dont know if it would support 12, and more, different painting spots; (a nearby cafe/hostelry is also important!)).
I attach my effort for the day!
Best

Thank you John for a wonderful day despite the weather, which wasn't that bad really! Beautiful setting and so much to choose from! Looking forward to next one!

Thanks John for out first day out! The grounds of Farmleigh are magnificent. Today I learnt not to water colour when the air is damp! I will have to choose an alternative medium in future. There was some great work produced there today!
