Plein Eire Dublin Paint-Outs

A 'Paint-Out' can be arranged by anyone. Even an impromptu session can be posted here if the weather is promising and you have an afternoon or a morning to spare. We try to meet regularly. Just decide on a time and a suitable venue and post a notice on the group page and 'Events'.

Time and location to be posted in advance both on "Plein Eire Dublin" and "Events" pages on this Plein Eire site.

RSVP on 'Events' for notice to be sent to you in the event of any change in plans or check this Plein Eire Dublin Group page on the morning of a paint-out .

  1. Nominate a time and location with reasonable painting prospects.
  2. Identify a local cafe or hostelry for artists to meet in before and after.
  3. Indicate if there is parking available nearby, and if its free or metered.
  4. Post the suggestion to 'Events'and copy and paste the link to the Comment Wall below on this page.

Members may also propose paint-outs at other times as suits them and ask for other members who may be available to join them.

Hi all, The weather forecast for next Saturday  (First Saturday November paint out) is  for continuous rain and  wind. Sunday's forecast is better.

Proposing the paint out is transferred to Sunday 3rd.

Venue Charlemont Bridge.

Meet in Barge Pub, between 11.00 am and 11.30 am. Pub opens at 11.00.  There is painting at Charlemont , on the canal towards Leeson St Bridge and towards Rathmines/Portobello. Both are quite close.

John O'Flynn is not available so I will act as co-ordinator.

Hi all,

A bit late again but it seemed a bit in-opportune making a posting while it was raining so heavily all week...as with Irish weather, one mood doesn't last too long and its clearing...maybe Sat will be good after all...ok if we return to Iveagh Gardens, meet in O'Briens Cafe. adj to Kennedy's art shop on Harcourt St, rounc 11 for 11.30 start?

Best- John O F

(ps: parking is free on Sat on streets marked yellow in map below - ie other side Baggot & Leeson St bridges)

Lovely work John, well worth the foraging!

Central Dublin sounds great for next outing. Hoping my knees wil be up to it by then. I'm off to Tunisia for a week of rest and painting and to suss out some good locations for a plein air expedition next year! All the best for now...

Very good turn out to "Schoolhouse For Art" in Enniskerry on Sat, 12 artists, even tho' the weather was un-promising - and remained so! Above scene from "deep behind enemy lines" (-you know where!) - where I was given up for as "lost in action" as afternoon progressed!

I'm going to suggest the Iveagh Gardens again for First-Sat-Oct paint-out, as I put a v positive spin on attendance at August's outing there (good to know you were all at AITO in Wexfrd!) and for Oct & Nov we should perhaps try and catch autumnal colours- Stephen's Green nearby too. If you have any other suggestions, now's the time to speak up! - JOF
