A 'Paint-Out' can be arranged by anyone. Even an impromptu session can be posted here if the weather is promising and you have an afternoon or a morning to spare. We try to meet regularly. Just decide on a time and a suitable venue and post a notice on the group page and 'Events'.
Time and location to be posted in advance both on "Plein Eire Dublin" and "Events" pages on this Plein Eire site.
RSVP on 'Events' for notice to be sent to you in the event of any change in plans or check this Plein Eire Dublin Group page on the morning of a paint-out .
Members may also propose paint-outs at other times as suits them and ask for other members who may be available to join them.

Hi again
I forgot to mention of course that the venue below is of our regular First-Sat-Nov 3rd Paintout!
JOF
Perhaps our program should vary between revisiting "old reliables" locations and new ones. I don't know how many of you are familiar with the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge, designed by Edwin Lutyens, famous Edwardian architect (the Cenotaph in Downing St & the Manor on Lambay Is. are his designs). Even if you have visited it before it looked resplendent last week even on a dull day with all the leaves falling, tho the rose terraces were past their best. A bit of architecture, landscape, water, all in one spot!
For those of you who are fond of their creature comforts I suggest the nearest hostelry is Hilton Kilmainham beforehand (opp Gaol), but as it is a short car journey away I'll set up my stall in the Memorial Gardens carpark at 10.30, with camping stove & kettle, croissants, muffins, etc!
Hope you can make it!

A very good turn out at yesterdays Dublin Plein Air outing with fourteen present and a couple of 'firstimers'. It was a beautiful day and the area provided a interesting painting challenge with the contrast between the new Grand Canal Dock development and the older area of the Quay and the Basin.

The New Grand Canal DockThe Old Grand Canal Basin
The Grand Canal Dock 2012 ala Dublin Plein Air
Grand Canal Basin 1928 by Paul Henry. He got there before us.
For those coming to the Dublin Plein Air outing on Saturday. There is only limited parking on Grand Canal Quay and it is pay on Saturday. There is free parking on Macken St on Saturday. Macken St runs from South to North and crosses Pearse St at traffic lights just before the bridge coming from town or next traffic lights after bridge if coming along Ringsend Rd. Its just a couple of minutes walk to Coffee meeting point.
Next Saturday's Plein Air outing will be held at Grand Canal Dock and environs. Meet at Art of Coffee on Grand Canal Quay just beside the Wateray Visitor centre at 11.00. If you are coming from town direction follow along Pearse St and turn right at bridge over dock. Coming from Ringsend Rd turn ,left at bridge.
Hi all,
As I didn't bring my camera to capture the sunny day and the great attendance of 10-12 at sunny Baggot St Bridge last Sat, 01/09, this sketch will have to do! Once the crowds associated with the American football event in nearby Aviva Stadium subsided the area returned to its weekend tranquil norm - and we could get on with capturing it! Would that all PE Dublin events were as well endowed - with good weather - and good attendence!
Looking forward to First-Sat in October (details to be posted anon)!
Happy Painiting - JOHN O Flynn
Hi
re Sat 1/09 Paint Out at Baggot St Bridge, Caroline has noted that there are two Insomnia's nearby - I suggest we meet in the one nearest the Bridge. Forecast looks good for early part of day...! - Best, JOHN O F
Hi all,
I hope any and all who made it to Art InThe Open in Wexford had a fulfilling time. I hadn't noticed that the First-Sat-Paint-Out would be so early - next Sat is Sept 1!
Its been July since we met to, next Sat is forcast to be cloudy but dry so I'm going to suggest a central venue - Baggot St Bridge and its environs - meet in the Insomnia Cafe near the Bridge at 11. If anyone is very enthusiastic about another venue they've scouted, please feel free to suggest it.
Looking forward to seeing you Saturday - JOHN O FLYNN/D13
