Thanks Paul...you'll be in Wexford for the Festival then?.great! Maybe keep an eye on our paintout blogs, so you'll have an idea of the type of areas we paint in, and will be able to put names to faces. Enjoy your trip, sounds wonderful!

They are fine paintings in their own right. The next paint-out near you is on April 9th. You can join Dublin Plein Eire (under Groups) who are meeting here: http://pleineire.ning.com/events/plein-eire-dublin-group-april. If you join DPE you will get alerts when someone posts a paint-out and also if one has to be cancelled or changed at short notice, for any reason.

Hi Paul,

Welcome to Plein Eire.

Here is a page of guidelines for new members which may help in the beginning.

You are already getting plenty of help with your acrylic question. Why many of us struggle on with oils beats me as they are perhaps the least outdoor-friendly medium - gluttons for punishment, perhaps.

I think its John Myatt whom AnneMarie means.

In an Irish climate acrylics are very good. Maybe a plant-sprayer and a stay-wet palette would be economical in the summer?

The main point of the guideline is that 'artwork' is for plein air paintings. Paintings done any other way, photos of fellow painters painting etc. can be included in a blog or a discussion thread under 'Forum' on the site.

Anyway, give it a lash.

Hi Paul, Welcome to Plein Eire. Above is a link to a query I had some time ago regarding acrylic, with some helpful tips from some members . I use acrylic sometimes, but never pushed it's potential to the limit. One of the benefits to oil on the other hand, is that you can paint to some degree in the rain with it!!One of our SEPA Members Philip Dundon, paints a majority of his work in acrylic - he might be able to pass on his experience of it to you.
