Good for you, Yvonne!
You can look for neighbouring outdoor painters by doing a 'search' under members. I can think of Barbara Craig, Ernest White, Grahame Booth, Paul O'Kane, Ayfer Mills and Ivor Coburn off the top of my head.
Post your intention to paint at a well-known, handy spot with time and date. Post this as an 'Event' so members can RSVP to your event whether they will come or not.
If you become a 'friend' you can then send a private message giving your mobile number, in case anyone can't find you. Arrange to meet at a car park or a cafe and away you go. After that it gets much easier and I would recommend more than one person takes responsibility for instigating your paint-outs. After a couple of sessions, give yourselves a title, if you want, and we'll register your group on Plein Eire and that's all there is to it.
If there's anything the site can do to help you, just ask.
Hi Yvonne.
Welcome to the site. We have a few artists talking about starting up a local group in the north-east. At the moment that hasn't really happened and the group we have called NE Plein Eire are looking for a new title at the moment as the geographical spread from Navan all the way up to Coleraine makes meeting up regularly a bit impractical. Several make it down for a few days in Wexford for Art in the Open and you'd be very welcome there.
In the meantime, perhaps some of your fellow Bangor Art Club members who fancy braving the weather to paint outdoors will sign up and help start a true NE chapter? Now you are a member you can search through other members by location to see who else may be nearby.
Anyway, first enjoy looking around the site and I hope you like Plein Eire.
