Join Plein Eire
Click on Groups tab, click on '+ join plein eire west' - you should see this just below the tabs in the grey panel on the top right. And then whatever procedure follows that. If you can't get through that way, try contacting the group administrator, who is John Dinan (you'll find him under 'Members' tab.
Let me know if you are still being stymied in your efforts to join.
Good to see you. Thanks for the photo.
I suppose perhaps an iPad could be used for working directly outside? I've never seen anyone do this for plein air, although I did see a guy using a computer to paint a digital portrait.
We are only a young site, and would like to see more groups established in different far-flung corners of the land so, ideally, you could hook up with the local plein air buffs wherever you went. At the moment, there is a group, Plein Eire West, based in Galway. That particular group requires you to apply to join. You can find it under the 'Groups' tab at the top of the page. Dublin (for when you are back there) has 2 groups; Dublin Sketchers and Dublin Plein Eire and you will find those under the same tab. Mostly, they will put details of their 'PaintOuts' under the site's 'Events' listing.
You will meet all sorts, young and old, who are keen on painting and drawing outside. I am based in Wexford, where the site was started and where we have an annual plein air festival, called Art in the Open, every August bank holiday weekend - You may want to put that in your diary?
Finally, when you post under 'Photos' on your page, it is filed and accessed under 'Plein Air Artwork' Tab. For this reason, only paintings and drawings which are made en plein air may be uploaded. Your studio CG work is great but its not plein air. If you have plein air work, you are welcome to put it up.
Sorry for being stickler when you have only just signed up but members can't post any kind of artwork they like - it must be plein air.
Best of luck with joining one (or more) of the groups and look forward to your future postings.
Welcome to Plein Eire, which is for plein air artwork and to encourage networking, especially meeting up in realtime to paint. For this reason (hoping to facilitate this and make for a friendlier site), I ask members to use a portrait photo on your profile page. You are welcome to include other art interests, such as your CG work etc. on your profile page.
Have you tried working en plein air directly onto a laptop computer, perhaps with a graphic tablet?
Anyway, I hope you find it a rewarding site and look forward to you contributions.
