I agree with Sean about the light and shade and i love the warm tones in the hay and the grass. Roll on those lazy, warm summer days.
Your hay cocks are nicely rendered with light and shadows. When I was young, just using a rope around
them, with a horse, I used to pull them into the farm yard for the men to fork into the hay shed. That was
possible because it was just across the fields. And I was making the point during the week that it is
strange that the quintissential painter of the countryside, John Constable, never painted a single hay cock in his entire life. I estimate 20 percent of the fields, were covered with cocks for 10 per cent of the year. So, Dee, thanks for the memory.
Ahhh tks meg.last year we had some wee stucks down near gortahork, lovely to see them and hard to find.
Dee, I just love your Haystacks.... they really remind me of my childhood holidays in Donegal... And I saw some last summer there... the machine made Round Bales have really taken over ... the haystacks are all hand built...so it’s lovely to see the rich colours and the shadows they throw... beautiful body of work posted...
