It had become mostly cloudy by afternoon, and I found it difficult to see anything interesting to paint. Inevitably, I got drawn towards the rushing water in the mill race beside the weir. However, to get this view I had to make my way out onto the weir - not as crazy as it sounds, because the water level was low, so the weir was mostly above water. However, I almost fell in twice while stepping back to look at the painting. Hopefully, it was worth the risk!
