From 2014: “Thomas takes time with every participant to tune his helpful comments to their level. This was a great opportunity for me to spend time with a very experienced painter who is generous with his knowledge.” – Marie-Claire, Austria
The above endorsement comes from a student, who lives in Germany and joined my Tuscan class last year. It was a joy to work with her face-to-face and I hope you will consider participating this year as well. If you do I will take care of everything else. We will pick you up in Florence, lodge you in a beautiful 18th century villa, feed you freshly prepared local cuisine, transport you to and from our painting sites, and take you into Florence on an informative tour of the Macchiaioli painters of Italy – all with six hours of expert painting instruction from me each day.
It is my hope this class will be a mix of Europeans and Americans, similar to the workshop I just held in Mexico last month. A fun and skill-building experience for all, and a chance to make some international friends.

Instruction will focus on how to begin and complete an oil painting outdoors within a single session – both for those who wish to paint alla prima, and those who wish to use plein air painting to inform more comprehensive studio work. Here are some specific things we will cover as a group, with additional instruction focussed on your personal needs and interests during our time together...
• Using Light & Shadow to create a Dynamic Design
• Quick and Accurate Color Mixing
• How to Simplify What You See, Yet Create a Sense of Detail
• Expressive Paint Handling and Interesting Edge Work
• Working from Thin-to-Thick Paint
• Best Methods, Materials, and Practices
• How to Choose and then Compose Your Scene
• Creating an Effective Focal Point
• And much more!
Remember, the 10% Early Bird Discount Ends until May 15th!
And thank you, Tony, for this opportunity to share this workshop with your group. I hope to meet you, and some of your members this Fall...
