"A great Portrait is usually a well structured, expressive work of art; full of character, volume and good design. This class will stress the learning process to achieve this goal; from basic proportions, structure and value relationships for the beginner, to full colour portrait with emphasis on enhancing values, colour and design for intermediate to advanced artists. 
We will talk as much about creating a work of art, as making a portrait. We will also talk about the process of learning to see, not copy, but how to interpret.Good design is related to good drawing, and to me, a good drawing is the same as good judgement. Knowing "what to put in ", as well as "what to leave out".
Drawing and Painting is a process of getting the simple things right first, and with experience, the result usually takes care of itself. I encourage students to loosen up, make mistakes, enjoy the process, have some fun, and work hard. This class is open to all levels, and each student will get a lot of attention at their own individual level.
This Portrait Workshop, will give you the discipline and confidence to get a likeness or reproduce something complex, that will also help in doing a landscape, and anything else, as you will be sharpening your judgement " - Ned Mueller
