Hi Louise,

Are you back from Berlin yet? Carla and I were wondering about a day (at least one) in Berlin. Last time we were there we couldn't get into the Pergamon museum as the queue was too long. D'you think anyone would like to come into the city with is? How difficult is it to get in? I presume there is regular transport from Furstenburg, but how do we get from Brandenburg to Furstenburg?

What do I need to bring with me?

You seem to have had a g reat visit?   Best

David

David, when we arrive at Furstenburg the mayor of Alttymen Manfred, and the other lads collected us in their cars then we went beer shopping lol and then to Alttymen haus.

David it's also handy to bring a pair of clogs the light ones for tipping around the house cos the floors are wood and it stops ya sounding like a herd of elephants tramping round.

Meant bicycles, not cubicles!!

David it's quite alright rooms are large and as you and Carla are together you will occupy one room I presume. It is kinda hostel style and those of us who are single may share a room with another female or two.. t
There are showers and bathrooms on each of the dormitory floors which are the first and second floor. All meals happen on the third floor where there's a large kitchen and dining room plus a rec room. Meals were all vegetarian last year and absolutely delicious, however this year meat may be on the menu I'm not sure. Every type of beautiful cheese fruit And breads etc are there for snacks etc. The big pleasure is getting your grub cooked and handed to ya, no thinking about shopping for grub no cooking. If you want to stay out painting during lunch hour you can make yourself up a little packed lunch from the kitchen. There are cubicles to borrow and Furstenburg is about five k away lovely little town .There is an alcohol ban in the house but we had a bar down in the field under a gigantic oak Tree, stars by the millions no light pollution. The cost is 45 EURO per night per person includes all your food everything. We buy a few beers on arrival in Furstenburg and wine for whoever wants it well I for one will be stocking up anyway lol so I can hit the oak bar any night I feel like having a couple of beers. Can't remember about towels but I usually bring a bathrobe wherever I travel for my own comfort and a quick cover up lol.

Val the only real bit where you got to drag case ls from airport to train station to Berlin, but you couldn't get a taxi cos it's all on airport grounds like terminal two in Dublin from the terminal to the bus park at the airport church .along a path maybe we can load up a trolley or three and cart our stuff till we reach the steps down into the train station.

Hi All,

Just wanted to ask - are towels provided?  And can we do small bits of laundry?  It will affect how many clothes I bring.

Also - I can't walk very far, and am concerned with the 15 minute walk with my suitcase between the bus & train, or the other way around.   Unfortunately the knee that hasn't been replaced had a bit of a mishap.  Would anybody like to share a taxi for whatever bit the walk is.  I could do it at my own pace without a suitcase, but dragging stuff might just be too much, and I know that the group will have their own stuff to haul, so I can't expect help.
