Win Art in the Open 4* Hotel Prize

The 7th annual Art in the Open painting festival in Wexford, Ireland, is offering 7 nights in a 4* hotel to take part in our week-long plein air event: July 28th until August 4th 2014.

Art in the Open is an open event with 200 artists with many from continental Europe, UK, USA and Ireland. Over 7 days they travel to a variety of locations in the irish countryside painting castles, farms, villages, harbours beaches and market towns. And there are social events and workshops with several outstanding artists and an exhibition with awards at the end of the week.

To win your hotel stay, you must be a member of  www.pleinairartists.com or www.pleineire.com and post 3 images of your plein air work here to this forum thread or the Plein Air Artists site equivalent. Cost of travel, food, registration and any other expenses will be borne by the winner.

Your 3 images must be your own work, painted en plein air with titles, medium and sizes given and each artist may enter only once, whether on PLEIN AIR ARTISTS or PLEIN EIRE website. Judging will be by AITO committee and guest adjudicator Don Maier. Deadline for entries is midnight on St Patrick's Day, 17th March 2014 with winner announced by the end of March.

This is a view of farmland near the village of Wingham in Kent. You can just see the spire of Wingham church in the left distance. I sat and painted this on a hot day last summer.

Watercolour Pencil.  This was painted on 1st March 2014 on a very windy and cold day, in the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin.  I'd been at a meeting, so I wasn't properly wrapped up and I was frozen by the time I'd finished.

This was painted with the Boyne Valley Plein Eire group.  Such a beautiful place.  I could paint there for a year or years.

Just a week to go until the deadline....!

Although this one looks like a summers day, it was painted alla prima in sweet donegal on the 29th of last december , with bitterly  cold winds blowing a gale force.heavy rocks kept my palette and easel from blowing over.its oil on board, 8"x10".an attempt at capturing the force of the sea.

the second one is one of my favourite places in co meath"The hill of Tara " , that offers panorama views of 360° usually best seen in the winter months, where gray skys teeming with heavy rain laden clouds ready to spill over are an every day occurence.its oil on wood panel, and measures 12"x12".

The third image .....was painted on holiday again plein air.It was hard to find shelter from the scorching suns rays....its oil on canvas, measuring approx 12"x14"
