Hi, I personally don't paint outside, I specialise in Silk painting, but I am the secretary of the Cork based Maclise Art Society and have over 80 members and alot of them love to paint outdoors, our members would love to join up with painting tutors during the summer to paint in West Cork/Kerry if you are a en plein air group and have a few spaces please email me and I'll pass on to our members macliseartsociety@hotmail.com

Hi Tony,
I have to say the painting looks better in reality,it must be the way I am photographing it,it seems very dull.I will have a go at it in photoshop..............without the help of my photoshop mentor Tom King I will probably make a right mess of it...............

Hi Tony,
Thanks for the invite. Yes I have just finished the March marathon, it was better this time as there were only 20 artists. I managed a couple of paintings this time, I will post them if I work out the workings of this web site, (I made a bit of a mess of my photo) pity our paths did'nt cross this time.

Hi Tony! Thank you for your comments - it's Tracy here running the Dublin Sketchers page. The Dublin Sketchers were set up 2 years ago and have a blog where most of our interaction takes place. We were forwarded your site by a contact and it is a great place!

Most of our members have their own art blogs already and we use our blog for events and discussion. I set up the group on Plein Eire just to let people know we exist and that people are more than welcome to join us any Sunday. We generally meet in the Dublin City Centre area but sometimes visit places like Howth,Dun Laoghaire or go on weekends away, for example Galway and Kilkenny. (Currently planning a Cork trip!)

If I change this profile to my own, then I will have to delete the work of the other members - unless there is a way of adding it to the group instead?

In Tuscany last September. Wonderful area near Montepulciano, Pienza, and the Orcia Valley. Really superb, Stay in an Agritourismo and a car is essential. Weather is just perfect for long days out and the evening light over the hills. What dreams are made of.

Thank you! That's very nice. If I had known about this site, everyone on it a little earlier, I would have been saving more pennies to come over this year! I have applied to our national parks system, in which you can do artist residencies. They don't pay you, and you don't have to pay to stay, just get there, and feed yourself. But many of our national parks have them. I applied to several that I would be able to drive to. I will certainly put Ireland on the front burner for next year though, unless something changes here, and I could figure out a way to come to the plein air festival.

Thanks TOny, Ya could have been very dodgy had the wind taken up!! I sometimes paint on my own, but of course prefer to paint with others, when the opportunity arises! I was invited to join this group by Margaret, and Im hoping to get down to one of the paint outs before too long!

Hi tony, I hope to make it and bring a friend. It would be nice to meet everyone. I'm not involved in Stag but I do teach in the Arts Centre in Clonmel 2 days a week teaching oils and acrylics.
Hope to see you Sunday.

Thanks Tony, the group seems so wonderfully friendly - that's the great thing about it.
Yes I do experiment with different styles quite regularly, I don't think artists should be pigeonholed into having to paint just in one way, although I know a lot of artists, perhaps especially professional ones, feel disinclined to be seen to veer away from their recognised style. I was never one to follow the rules too closely. Hope to meet you sometime soon. John

Hello Tony - yes, I hope to get out when I'm home next - still in the desert - maybe a few camels amongst the sand dunes? The site is FAB - many congratulations and I'm really looking forward to another Art in the Open this year.
