thanks for the comment, and you're exactly right! that's the place :) it's been a few years so my memory isn't precise. I haven't done the cill riallaig residency, but am planning on going next summer if possible. I was there with my art teacher Catherine Elliott in 2008 when I was 17 to plein air paint for a week. We stayed on Valentia, where coincidentally my great great grandmother was born. Your art is fantastic by the way....simply stunning!

Michael,as you probably noticed I jumped into the car when the rain started and proceeded to spill the container of water over the seat and my jeans so when Louise suggested coffee I thought that was a much better idea than sitting with a wet bum in the cold........I was at the stage where I was about to kill it anyway and said "heck less is more".I have not seen your painting yet?

Thanks Michael, maybe Louise is not always right about paintings looking better in photos.

Thank you for the comments Michael, have been going here for years as my husband likes to surf and I love watching the wild seas. I managed to get down on the rocks which fives a great view of the castle, such a lovely place to paint and walk and the little harbour is lovely too, if only we had that rare commodity these days - more time, looking forward to Inistoige (husband canoes there every year and it is a beautiful magical place

I think the early bird got the worm with that lower lake one. Very nice work. As far as the 2nd Johnstown one goes, I have to say, I like the foreground best in it. As for the composition? I blame the garden designer.
Regarding my own sunset panel, perhaps because it was so rushed, or because I started to change it halfway through, but it falls into that category of painting that looks to me as if somebody else did it. Its a cuckoo and it becomes a kind of curiosity for that alone. Do you ever get those?
