Thank you all for your kind comments. I have always avoided raw umber but I was happy to find that it + ult blue gave me what I wanted for sky.

Wonderful weather changing wet effect, Sally. Love your sky and the soft effect of wet trees. I think painting from the car was an excellent decision. And it should totally qualify for a plain air, since you are still on the location, looking at the real thing.

Very athmospheric!!! You can almost feel the rain - just shows you what you can paint from inside a car!

Oil on Board 8 x 10".  May not pass as strictly plain air as I had to paint from the car because of torrential rain.  Bit I DID get soaked each time I opened the window to clear the steam!
