Event Description

This week as a special treat to ourselves we are visiting Dublin Painting and Sketching Club’s 137th Exhibition in the The Concourse Gallery, Marine Road,  Dun Laoghaire in Rathdown County Hall.

The plan is to first attend Jim Doolan’s Portrait Painting demonstration at 11 a.m. (Entry to above event on presentation of an exhibition catalogue).

Then view the exhibition.

And then lunch in Mao Restaurant, The Pavilion, Queens Road.

And then ? Well who knows.  Get out the paints and full of inspiration and stimulation and Asian delicacies Dun Laoghaire is at our feet with endless subjects.  Or we could go down the road to that Mecca of painters –                 Sandycove.

Or if you would like advice on paintings from your personal collection you could return to the County Hall and meet with Whyte's expert staff. (12.00pm to 4.00pm)

The County Hall is only steps away from the Dart station.  Nearest car parks that I know of are Royal Marine Hotel €2.00 per hour or Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre €3.00 per hour.  Both across the road from County Hall.

If anyone can advise further please do.

Pavilion car park offers all day parking for € 6 max charge on Saturdays and Sundays (if case there is no place in Carlisle Pier).

This is a parking suggestion from John McManus many thanks John.

If one is staying for a few hours, then the best parking option for Dun Laoghaire, is to park in the car park on the Carlisle Pier for €5 all day. That's on the harbour side opposite the row of restaurants where Mao is and situated between the National Yacht Club and the Royal St. George Yacht Club. It's the old Mail Boat pier. The buildings were demolished and there is just a short flat pier now, which is used as a car park.
