A Day in the Country: green fields, woods, a stroll by the river (bring strong boots, ground is uneven), romp merrily among the buttercups, or simply take a turn in the garden, I’d love to share a little bit of Meath countryside with you. Unfortunately the spectacular display of hawthorn will probably be past its best but there is plenty more to delight.
We meet at Broe, Newgrange for coffee at 11 a.m. Bring a picnic for your return at 3/3.30.
From M1 – take Exit 10 and head for N51 to Slane. After about 4 miles and thatched pub on left turn left onto L1607. At top of this road turn left and continue until you pass Newgrange monument. At the bottom of the hill turn left and continue to the very end of the cul de sac.
From N2 via Finglas and Slane – turn right at cross roads in Slane village and continue about 3-4 miles. At galvanised shop (Smiths) turn right onto L1607 and continue as above.
