Event Description

A popular tourist and fishing village in County Waterford, Ireland. Situated on the west side of Waterford Harbour on Ireland's southeastern coast, it lies within the barony of Gaultier (Gáll Tír - "foreigners' land" in Irish): a reference to the influx of Viking and Norman settlers in the area.

The village has plenty of visual assets to inspire painters; thatched cottages, old-style shops and pubs, several natural bathing coves, rocks cliffs, a commercial fishing harbour, hilltop park, woodland walks and a delightful vista across to Hook Head lighthouse.

Comment by Maureen Hart on August 9, 2020 at 14:21: I think I will take a virtual tour because of limited travel from US... I am Covid challenged and although I was hoping to make a trip this year it is on hold. maybe next year. Google Earth and virtual travel is it for me. SAD
