Continuing on from last years discussion...We're delighted that Marko and Nikoli  are again making plans for another Plein Air Berlin/ Brandenburg Event 2015.Dates will be  May 9th - 19th

The Event will be based again in  Altthymen haus, http://www.altthymenhaus.de/  

The cost will be  € 45 euro/ day, full board. The nearest airport is Berlin 

We had a great experience during this Event 2014. This is a wonderful opportunity to paint in the old, East part of Germany, and immerse yourself in paint :) . Places are still available, if you would like to join us let us know.

Is there any advantage in checking in beforehand, Louise, since I presume we all have baggage other than cabin carry-on? It's a while since I flew Aer Lingus, so I can't remember their routine, i.e. is there a separate shorter queue for people checking in baggage but who have already checked in on line?

Not really sure but I did it anyway all I have to do is print board pass and drop my bag sure it's not much difference anyway.

I think I'll just do it the "old way" then. Unlike, Ryan Air, it's not compulsory.

Yes with Ryan air it would cost you 40 euro for the ink and paper lol !!! You could buy a printer for that Michael.

I always reckon that Ryanaiir costs more in real terms than people realise. If you use them frequently, being human, the odd mistake is inevitable, and then the penalties are severe. So the real cost of a Ryanair flight is the price you pay on-line plus the probabilities of each possible error per flight multiplied by the respective penalties - I'm sure an actuary or a good bookie could work it out!

Here's a good example. My brother and his wife recently took the train from Kerry to Dublin to catch a Ryanair flight to Portugal. They only had carry-on baggage and one of them contained the keys to their camper van (already in Portugal) as well as some other essential documents. Unfortunately, Murphy's Law came into play and someone mistakenly took that bag from the train instead of their own! It took nearly 24 hours to get it back, so they had to book two new Ryanair flights for about seven times the original price! Although in fairness, Aer Lingus would probably charge as much as Ryanair under similar circumstances.

I've checked in and printed my boarding passes.

And the cat is being operated on and I've to pick him up this afternoon.  He has an abscess over his eye.  I'll ask my son to keep an eye on him.

Ah, poor thing. Ours usually acts up before we go on holiday - always reckon she knows she's destined for the cattery! At least you have someone to look after him. I've just printed my boarding pass too - got an aisle seat which suits me fine. Hope all this rain clears before we head for Dublin in the early hours - what a miserable day it's been.
