Thank you Marko. I will contact George today and ask him. George has been very busy as his dear wife Maureen has been ill. I will look up the Shanart colours and see what they have in their range. The sponsorship Mr Mayer gave last year was wonderful. I especially loved the Vang brushes and I especially would like to try some more of those, you can not get them in Ireland yet. Is it your personal e mail we should send our photos to?
Thanks Marko and hugs from Wexford

Hi Marko.  I work in oils and watercolour.

From what I understand, George's wife is very ill, so he may not be able to come.

Valerie's paintings in watercolour and oils are representations of her surroundings.  She loves the ever-changing colours of nature, and the rhythms and patterns that can be found there.  In particular, the characteristics of water play an important part in her work.  She look at the play of light on the sea, the dance of reflections, and even how wet pavements and roads can totally transform a scene.

Much of Valerie's work is local, based on her surroundings in South County Dublin, or in the Irish countryside. Depending on the time of day and the weather conditions, a familiar place can assume radically differing appearances. Details also change between one visit and the next, and the whole colour and feel of a place can totally change.

She works en Plein Air - outside, responding directly to the sights, sounds, smells, and atmosphere of a place as it is in a particular period in time.  The result is not like a photograph, which is a single instant of time.  And the eye sees differently to the camera lens, able to deal with the subtleties within strong lights and darks side by side, in a way that the camera can not replicate.

I don't think I have your email addresses to send the photos from.  Mine is valeriemart@gmail.co.

Hi Marko, Indeed what is with George McHugh? A question I've been trying to answer all my life! I've been hibernating all Winter! I will email you hopefully later this week with my plans. George
