It took a while to organise but 3 seperate presentations were made recently, on behalf of Art in the Open, of plein air paintings made during last year's festival : -
First is a watercolour by Grahame Booth, "6 Wexford Doorways" seen being handed to Mayor of Annapolis, Josh Cohen by our guest artist, David Diaz, chair of Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters. David travelled with his wife, Ardis in July 2010 to Wexford where they made many friends. Annapolis, Maryland, and Wexford are sister cities and both host plein air festivals.
The second photo (below) shows David Diaz' painting of a Wexford fishing boat being presented to Mayor of Wexford, Cllr. Joe Ryan by Neil O'Keeffe of Art in the Open.
The final photograph (below) shows a painting of Enniscorthy by Paul Maloney being presented to Chairman of Enniscorthy Town Council, Cllr Paddy Kavanagh by artist, Karen Scannell of Art in the Open. On the right of the photo is Town Clerk Mr. Padraig O'Gorman.
Art in the Open is very grateful for the generosity of the 5 artists, including Paul O'Kane and Frank Sanford, who offered the paintings with which we were able to mark another successful festival and thank our main sponsors. Paul O'Kane's painting 'Mussel Boats', was presented to sponsors the Environmental Protection Agency in its Johnstown Castle H.Q. and Frank Sanford's 'Enniscorthy Gateway' was also presented to Wexford Borough Council and will hang in the newly refurbished Borough Council Offices alongside David Diaz' painting shown above. Unfortunately, we do not have photos of those two presentations.
