Monkgrange Gardens

Watercolour. 29 x 21 cm At the foot of the Blackstairs Mountains near Rathnure. Took us a while to find it as there are no signs. The owner told us that Wexford Co. Co. charge €750 per sign per year. And he's not interested in crowds. Likes just a few people to find it!

Comment by Dick Donaghue on October 7, 2015 at 8:00: Many thanks fellow pleinairors. I forgot to mention it was €5 each. There was a coffee shop but it wasn't open. Seems they were not ready for all two of us. Lol! But Jeremy was very friendly. He's a sculptor as well and has many dotted around the garden by different artists and talked to us about them. All in all a very pleasant evening.

The present owner Jeremy Hill told us his grand-parents designed and laid out the gardens. They both had a knowledge of architecture and she was a watercolour artist. It's not huge but lots of nooks and variety and dotted with big sculptures and a Norman castle folly.
