I drove all the way down to Baginbun Head yesterday morning, planning to do some seascapes. But the sea was completely calm, so I turned my back on it and painted these bales instead!
The painting is oil on 12" x 16" MDF Board

Thanks Maria.
It's such a peace in it, blessed by the sweet sun of September, perfect technique and softness of the colour
Thanks Caroline. I think the calm conditions I experienced were down to the fact that the off-shore North-Easterly wind was cancelling out the incoming Atlantic swells. You were probably getting the full brunt of that wind coming in off the sea. I was out painting for a couple of hours today and it felt reasonably pleasant - maybe we'll get another couple of weeks out of it.
Michael, I love the feel of sunshine in this one and the way you painted the bales of hay, love the reflections. PEBV went out to Skerries Co. Dublin yesterday and it was very windy, rainy and very cold. Where we were the sea was extremely rough, but the colours were fantastic in it. All of us dedicated artists will have to start wrapping up for the winter that's coming.
