Fantastic Paul. Great skill and use of memory.
The way you say you tackled it reminds me of an account by an American artist, W.Reese, who died earlier this year, of painting the Northern Lights from a campsite in Alaska (I think). He said the only way he could do it was to stand outside for two or three minute spells and then duck back inside the tent and try to get it down in paint. It is interesting to paint at night discovering that its not just a dark blue version of daytime, but the forms are completely different, the areas you just cany distinguish and the character changed by artificial lights etc.

Panel and paints in workshop.In and out to top of yard for information from the scene. The lights on horizon is Enniscorthy and right is Oylegate. The green colour is not in the the painting, it is actually all dark pinkish. Plein air lite !
