9"x12" oil panel. Did a couple of thumbnail pencil sketches first. I always mean to do it but rarely do. I felt it helped me sort out a better composition and what needed emphasis or discretion.

After Kevin has dramatised it so vividly, I'm looking at it with fresh eyes, myself!
Sort of a cross between 'Bracken' and 'From Here to Eternity'?
Not sure what kind of green 'baccy you're smokin' but it isn't carrigeen.

I ve walked through, around, beside, behind that beach..avoiding it as a subject..you've really captured it well!

Not pedestrian at all. It's an accurate and skilled portrayal of the day that was in it. My eye is drawn to the couple and then the enigmatic figure top right.
"There he goes staring out to sea again"
"Yeah I thought he'd be over her by now, I told you it was a bad idea to come here again"
"Maybe you're right, I hoped he'd just play in the rock pools with the others."
"Anyway let's not host a French exchange student again this summer"
"Ok. Let's get out of here now, I have an uneasy feeling we're being watched"

Those are often impentimenti, David under my pictures - the ghosts of previous unappreciated masterpieces poking through. But in this case, I prepped some MDF board with acrylic and a little polyfilla (a cellulose-base filler) to key it and brushed it on roughly. You can see it under the sea area.
Its a notion I think I picked up on some smart American site (they said a grade of pumice which I didn't have to hand) so if you don't like it I am blaming you guys.

I think you did a good job making that area look interesting, Tony. I had a look and that particular view did very little for me. The two figures add a lot of interest.
