Ok, if anyone fancies another project following the success of the Scannell Challenge, how about trying a restricted palette?
  • Perhaps do one painting using just Black and White (or another monochrome colour),
  • one using 2 colours., warm and cool - for example, Ultramarine and Light Red (or similar) plus White,
  • and a third with these colours plus Lemon Yellow (or Cadmium Pale), or try the Anders Zorn palette which was Cadmium Red Light, Yellow Ochre, Black and White.
Just a thought, like.
Anyone fancy trying this?

I'm up for it . So do I have it right?? ....Three paintings for the week using each of the limited palette versions???
So glad to hear my friends over the sea or trying limited palettes! I really like doing that.....wish I could paint with you. =( and didn't live so far. Have fun. Please post any paintings you do.
Well join in anyway, Catherine - that's the beauty of it.
I guess so, Karen. You want a time limit? I suppose that gets us focused. How about we include Monday 7th as that is a bank holiday and we've another Paint Out scheduled?
Part-timer amateur Sunday painter types like me need all the help going.
Look up my link on Henry Hensche first and then try a limited palette! A limited palette for me is about seven colours instead of fifteen!
This should be very challenging. Are you thinking of a certain number of paintings within a certain time period, such the last challenge?
We have the 7th as our Memorial Day, a holiday. Works for me.

Yeah, a little better today, Karen. Maybe I'll give this a go in a couple of days time - suffering painting withdrawal symptoms at this stage.
In! Heading up to the Dublin Mountains after work this evening I hope, so will make a start on No. 1 there!

Here is a little, 6"x8" oil sketch of the front of our house, for the black and white study. It was actually a lot of fun, and I decided to stay close, very close, to home and do something relatively straight forward. I have a feeling that the next couple will seem harder.
