Boyne Valley Plein Eire. Last paintout of 2013 in Annagassan next Saturday, 14th Dec.
Annagassan is a small costal village between Dundalk and Drogheda. It hit the headlines in 2011 when remains of a Viking fotress were found. It has since returned to its peaceful self. It is situated on the southern edge of Dundalk Bay, overlooked by the Cooley and Mourne Mountains. There is a little pier, an old mill and a stone bridge over the River Glyde where it enters the sea.
We will meet in the Glyde Inn in the centre of the village for coffee/breakfast at 11 a.m. and return there about 3.30. We hope that as many as possible will be able to stay and have a meal to send off 2013 together.
To get to Annagassan from M1 – take Exit 15 for Castlebellingham. When you reach the village of Castlebellingham turn right onto Drogheda road. Take next left (signpost Clogherhead) R166 and continue to Annagassan.
OR
if you would like to take the scenic route
leave M1 at exit 12 – Collon/Dunleer – R169. Take right for Dunleer. We will meet along the road beyond the solid white line between 10.15 and 10.30 and proceed together into the dark interior of County Louth.
The route will take us through the picturesque hamlet of Salterstown and along the south coast of Dundalk into Annagassan. photo by Kieran Campbell
N.B. if you choose this option please let me know and send me your phone number so that we won’t leave without you.

It was a lovely day regardless of the weather and I am still full after that breakfast - thanks Sally for organising it and cant wait to return
Happy christmas to all and might see you on the 4th Jan
Sally, thanks for organising today - even though weather was really bad, we still got painting, even from the inside of our cars (the only place we wouldn't be blown over!). A lovely gem of a place, we will have to go back shortly when weather better. Have a good Christmas everyone
Looks like the Irish forecast fooled us again!
BBC forecast is awful but the Irish one is better so Im sticking with Met Eireann today - see you at coffee as I am coming from the Ardee direction
It doesn't seem as bad outside as they were forecasting. See you all later.
Have the car packed up - heavy rain here in Delvin this morning but think the forecast is ok for pm
