In the 19th century a description of Leixlip village by a MrLacey reported that "it consists of one long main street containing some comfortable houses which in the year 1856 were showing evidence of neglect" (source - A walking tour of Leixlip by Seamus Kelly)
Well, that main street is still there and the description is apt for today. If coming in from the Lucan - Dublin direction then you will go through a set of traffic lights, followed by another pedestrian set of lights - here you turn left into the public car park (small Spar supermarket on corner beside lights). The Hotel car park is behind this , you veer to the left in public car park and go through the hotel barrier. Parking in the public park is free on sat and hotel car park free with coffee bill etc. If you are coming from Co Meath you might end up coming down Captains hill, you will take a right turn at the lights in village and then left at next set of lights (Spar supermarket on corner). If coming in from Maynooth end of village you will take right at first set of lights in village (spar supermarket on corner).
