Event Description

Join the Boyne Valley plein air painters this week at Oldbridge. We meet at 11 a.m. in the Tea Pavillion.

The canal is looking beautiful with dramatic reeds and reflections. Also stately trees, rolling countryside, riverside vistas,canal boardwalk.

And should the weather not cooperate a tour of Battle of the Boyne Visior Centre in Oldbridge House is well worth a visit (E5/E4). This infamous historic battle between two kings occurred on 1 July 1690 at this site.

Directions from Dublin: M1 to Exit 10. Take first left onto SLANE Road.. Continue to cross roads at Oldbridge and turn left for Oldbridge House.

Frank was an exponent of plein-air painting and worked alongside John Singer Sargent and John Lavery. Prices of his paintings at auction reached unforeseen prices. In May 1999, at a Christie's auction in London, Reverie sold for over ten times the estimate, at £496,500 sterling.
