Boyne Valley Plein Eire Clogherhead paintout 20.06.2015

Clogherhead, Co.Louth is our destination next Saturday, 20^th June.  So if you’re teetering on the brink of taking your first step to plein air painting or a devoted regular then join us for our weekly paint-out in Clogherhead, Co.Louth. 

 This week we meet for coffee and scone/Full Irish  in Forge Field Coffee Shop, Termonfeckin at 11 a.m.  We will return there for ‘afters’ and a chat about 3.30 p.m. Forge Field Farm Shop is in Termonfeckin (not Clogherhead).  You will enjoy their display of goods from artisan breads to zinnias.  (Luckily the dictionary had only two pages of Z things.  But I could have used ‘Zany Gifts’).

To get to Clogherhead from M1 –

1. Exit at Junction 10.

2.  Follow signs for Drogheda.

3.  At second traffic light turn left. (These lights are very close together). You will pass hospital on your right.

4.  At roundabout go left .

5.  Cross this road immediately  keeping the thatched cottage on your left.

6.  At next traffic light turn left.

You should now be on the main road to Clogherhead via TERMONFECKIN.

When we get to Clogherhead there is a choice of subjects – The Long Strand with the Mourne Mountains on one side and pretty cottage among the rocks on the other.   It is said locally that some rock stars – was it the Rolling Stones – stayed here.

 Or Little Strand Beach with thatched cottages and their reflections if the tide is out and dunes and more rocks.  

 Or the harbour with variety of boats.  

Or inner docks with more boats and seals. 

Or ‘over the Head’ with spectacular sea views. 

Or street scenes in the village itself
