Event Description

By popular demand we are going to paint at Sonairte, National Ecology Centre, Laytown, Co. Meath this Saturday 23rd April.  Dee will have the seats warmed and the kettle will be on the boil for 11 am in the coffee shop.

In case you haven’t been before there are river views of the River Nanny as it meanders its way to the sea at Laytown with very interesting estuary birds, waders, ducks, herons, and buzzards.  In the walled garden there is a selection of flowering plants, vines and vegetables and ancient gnarled fruit trees.  If you find no inspiration there there are the old farm buildings themselves and the Energy Courtyard which contains renewable energy displays, a human sundial and an 18th century dovecote. There may even be some bluebells!

To get to Sonairte from south side - M.50 to Exit 7, N.1 towards Belfast. Go through Julianstown village. Immediately after the village there is a sign for Sonairte. Turn right and continue for about 2 miles, Sonairte on right.

From northside via Drogheda - N.1 towards Julianstown.  Signs for Laytown, Bettystown and Sonairte just before village. Take left and continue for about 2 miles. Sonairte on right.

Unfortunately, I am still busy with moving house and must decline. With you all in spirit and hope to be back on track soon.

Best regards to all, Caitriona

They are beautiful, Sean and the incoming tide enhances the hole thing. Lovely.
