Artists from the general Boyne Valley area (roughly Armagh, Monaghan, Cavan, Westmeath, Meath, Louth) who wish to come together to paint. All abilities are welcome.
I know this is sort notice but the Dublin Plein Air Festival has been asked by VAI (Visual Arts Ireland) to participate in their Get Together 2017 at the Irish Museum of Modern Art (IMMA) this coming Friday 15th Sept.
We have been offered 5 FREE places to attend. This includes a free lunch and attending the many seminars.
Artists will be asked to paint around the grounds of IMMA.
The video section wouldn't let me upload- problem with firefox - so I hope it is ok to put it up here. A good bbc4 programme about Turner and the Industrial Revoloution and an apt time as the annual Turner exhibition opens tomorrow in the National Gallery
Thank you Sean for a wonderful paint out location today in Skerries, I had never painted there before and was delighted to find so many possiblities, and of course the tea and chat were great too. The ice cream was delicious too !
Welcome to Boyne Valley Norma. I hope you won’t always be in Cork and will be able to join us on our paintouts sometimes. Kyrle says you may be interested in the Carna trip next week. I think it’s unlikely that there is a room available. But things change so suddenly with this new normal that you might be lucky. I suggest you phone the hotel - 095 32255. Let me know how you get on. You can text me at 086 8059177. Best of luck.
I am excited to join Plein Eire Boyne Valley group, thank you. My goal this year is to paint Plein air and loosen up my painting to achieve a more painterly effect. I am looking forward to getting out there when things get a little easier. In the meantime I will explore the equipment other than the paints etc..
Looks like Sat will be wet. What about meeting at coffee hut on beach at Clogherhead 11am. MONDAY? Clogherhead is NORTH of Drogheda. Beach, rocks, cliffs and a pier for piery people. Coffee etc available but bring flask etc. - just in case.
Alison, Robert and John. I’m afraid I won’t be able to make it to Clogherhead tomorrow. I took a tumble yesterday and don’t think I’ll.be able to drive. If you go have a lovely time and hopefully we’ll get together soon. Alternatively WCSI in Farmleigh all week.
Thanks fir good wishes Sean. Have to confess the injury doesn’t justify all the kind attentions from BVers. Saturday looks like being damp. Is anyone interested in painting-out on Sunday, which promises to be nice weather, perhaps in Oldbridge?
Thanks Cinnie and Frank completely recovered. Yes will be in Oldbridge coffee shop 11 o’clock tomorrow, Sunday. Forecast not too bad so hope there will be a few of us.
Yes Sally, its difficult but I am getting those fears again with numbers so high again, we will see how it goes in the next few weeks - time also for the winter woolies. I wasnt impressed with the mask under the noses with one of the staff in the Shack - she got very niffed when I asked her to fix it. I am temtped to go back to my cottage sketch some day soon as I see now what I want to do :)
Very sadly we have to inform you of the death of our dear friend and painting companion, Sean Quinn. Sean passed away suddenly at home and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm dilís.
For anyone whoever met or knew our dear friend and painting companion Sean Quinn will say how enriched their lives had been having him as their friend. Many a trip away we had in places like Birr, carna, leenane, gweebarra etc where the craic was only mighty and sean like us loving every second of it.His paintings were magical in his use of atmospheric perspective and he will be sadly missed by all his friends near and far.Rest gently sean ,.r.i.p.dee billy.
Deirdre and I were saddened to hear the news of Sean's passing. Such a gentleman and he had a quirky style very much his own as well. He was a pleasure to know.
So, so sad to hear of Sean's passing. As an artist, he was a wonderful colourist and draftsman. As a person, he was generous and kind with a wonderful sense of humour. May you rest in peace kind man. Alison
