Damien is a self-taught artist who lives in the southwestern United States. He has been painting since his youth and his interest in landscape painting springs from a desire to convey an appreciation of natures beauty. Exposure to the great works of Thomas Moran, Albert Bierstadt, Edgar Payne, Robert Lougheed, and Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida has been insirational. Damien is also influenced by more impressionistic and less direct painting approaches. Since September of 2009 he has focused primarily on plein air work, the most challenging and rewarding form of landscape painting.
