Oil on Canvas Board

A "Pet Day" spent along the river in the very pretty village of Cong- 18 painters gathered in stunning Autumn sunlight organized generously by John Dinan as part of the Cong Festival. Especially poignant due to the recent death of Maureen O Hara.. The large bronze statue of herself being carried in the arms of John Wayne was adorned with flowers today in her memory...apparently, the Monks used to have a captive pool in the little house to trap fish that was linked to the monastery by a bell that would sound when there was " fishy" activity in the pool... Canny Monks they were back in the 1500 s!!!

An astonishing visual tour-de-force, Meg. I love this story. At the very end of the film when the couple are heading off to married bliss, Marureen says something of a coquettish nature to John Wayne, that he wasn't expecting and that wasn't in the script. His eyes bulge in eager anticipation of this sentiment. Maureen O Hara has been asked a thousand times, what was it she said. But like a true woman of Ireland, she has never revealed those intimate remarks.
Very atmospheric, love it Meg
Beautiful Meg..
