Maybe not subtle, but effective as a strong statement.  You really get the feeling of three separate areas, close, middle and distant.

Have just seen your lovely painting,   Sally..     Love the contrast between the little tree, the big tree and the castle.   It's a bit worrying to wonder what else I'm missing!!!

I like the way the deep and light greens of the foliage contrast. The red of the figure and the castle behind

add a bit of mystique to. Well done Sally
