I painted this from my back garden, during the post-Christmas snow. It was great to get both snow and sunshine. A couple of Irish coffees were required afterwards!

The cold thought me a great lesson here, Martina. Keep it simple and work fast.

Thanks Karen. How long to thaw out? Several medicinal hot whiskies later and after a bout of flu, I emerged to paint again after about two weeks!

It's a beautiful painting.I think it's harder to do a simple composition well .You definitely hit the nail on the head with this one.How long did it take you to thaw out????

Thanks Elaine. Yes, the painting you are thinking of is "La Pie". It's in the Musee d'Orsay in Paris. I'm a big fan of Claude Monet's, but I wasn't trying to copy his painting here, well at least not consciously anyway!

Very nice! Reminds me of the feeling of a painting by, I think it was Monet. The one of a gate in the winter with a bird sitting on it.
