An enjoyable morning painting with the SEPA Group at Tintern Abbey yesterday. I love winter scenes like this one, as I feel they are more representative of the Irish winter (at least of the ones we used to get) rather than those with the dreaded white stuff! I discovered also that the Irish midge is quite happy at temperatures of 6-7C. When I got home I discovered a line of bites along my forehead, and I assume also on other parts of my anatomy which are harder to see in a mirror!

The painting is 10" x 12" oil on MDF board.

Thanks Deirdre. It was difficult to find any colour out there on such a dull day, but as usual for me I pushed things a little!

Thanks Laura. I must have been glued to it because I can't remember seeing you leave. I vaguely remember waving to you at some stage though!

Thanks Norah. I don't need that Avon stuff, Norah, because I'm a big softie at heart!

Love the water Michael , very atmospheric - maybe you need a revolving mirror ?  or that stuff from Avon called skin so soft is suppossed to keep the midges at bay and of course you would have lovely soft skin too  ?

I think I might have told them to buzz off, Karen! And thanks, yeah, I'm fairly pleased with it after 9-10 weeks plein air abstinence.

...don't tell me you said something to annoy the midges as well ? (kidding)  :))

Great painting ..really caught the mood of the day - and in a midges warzone !
