We had a group paint-out (SEPA) at Kilmokea House on Sunday. I found it difficult at first to find something that appealed to me, since it was overcast and there was little or no colour as of yet in the gardens. Then I found the patterns of light and shade on the leaves just below the daffodils here very interesting, I don't know much about ornamental plants, but it looked like a sort of miniature gunera.

Thanks Deirdre.
Majestic Michael .
Thanks Ed.
Different—lovely work Michael
Thanks Sally. Those leaves were shiny on top, thus picking up some of the blue-grey sky colour. But where the edges curled up they were semi-translucent and there was this warm yellow-green colour (that's probably the "gold" you're seeing). Also, it helped that the warmth in the leaves nicely mirrored the colour of the daffodils. Otherwise, it would have been a painting of two halves.
Thanks Jan.
Lovely work, Michael
Thanks Meg. I think that's what really caught my eye. I re-arranged them a bit but not too much.
