My first from yesterday's (13th Feb) SEPA paint-out. It was very dull and then it started raining, so I just decided to do this little (10" x 12")wave study, since there was great action in the sea.

Thanks Kevin. Sometimes after spending ages looking for something interesting to paint, you find that it's been staring you in the face all along. This was one of those occasions!

Isn't that expressionism????

Thanks Karen. I had to work hard to avoid making those waves too straight. I have to constantly supress my left brain when I paint, but sometimes I supress both and end up with ****!

This is really beautiful...all that subtle use of colour and the rhythm of the waves. I don't think I'd tire looking at it.

Thanks David. I was born and spent my childhood days beside the ocean, and always feel myself drawn towards it.

Thanks Jane. That foreground stuff is usually referred to as "mass foam", the holes are just referred to as "foam holes". There is another type, "linear foam", which becomes more dominant as the wave recedes and the foam holes tend to merge together.

You have a nice feel for water and vastness--nice

Great capture of the swells....love the foreground pattern of the water after the wave breaks...is there a name for it?  anyway...you know what I mean....nice one Michael!
