Thanks Sally and Norah. Yes, of course a "weed" is only a flower in an unwanted place. And I have to hold my hands up, I've been zapping them off my lawn for years! What I like to do with these close-ups is attempt to mimic human vision by putting some things in sharp focus compared to softer and less detailed treatment of other areas. But they offer the chance to experiment with expressive brushwork too.

They're everywhere but you make them look so desireable, Michael. I picked a bunch when I was a kid to bring to the teacher for the May altar. My mother said they were flowers in God's eyes. The teacher promptly threw them in the bin!!

So beautifully painted, no such thing as weeds - just wildflowers, can never understand the need to eliminate so many of them from our lawns
