My second painting from yesterday's paint-out (21st March). There was glorious sunshine for a couple of hours in the afternoon, before the fog eventually swept in. I'm a bit of a "contre-jour" junkie, and couldn't resist this. I may go blind prematurely though!

Thanks Belinda. One of those all too rare days when painting seemed easy!

This is beautiful. I love your treatment of the rock face...& the sparkle of the water.

Thanks Karen. Yeah, wasn't it such a fantastic afternoon and a great bit of banter in the pub afterwards too! We always complain about the weather in Ireland, but days where it rains from morning to evening are rare enough, especially in the South East. Coping with the changeable weather can be challenging but for us painters it is far more interesting than waking up to a clear blue sky every morning!

Hi Micheal, What a day, It just goes to show that you have to give a day a chance..I would never have thought that we were in for such a "sunshine treat", when we headed off in the morning...Your painting really captures the day beautifully!!

Thanks Bernie. The great thing about this site is that it allows you post quite large images.

Love how the light caresses this one Michael. A real treat to see it enlarged!

Compositionally this is a lovely painting, wonderful verticals and horizontals...Personally I wouldn't change a thing !!!!

Thanks Philip. I'm fairly pleased with this too, but there's always something - in this case I feel that the foreground rocks are too dominant - if I were starting again, I think I'd move them more to the right. But then again, If I had done that, I wouldn't have got the strong counterchange of the rocks against the sunlit water.

One of your best to date. Perspective is super, not to mention the colours! Well done, love this one Micheal...
