Here is a festival I came across:Montague Plein Air. It is from 24 - 29 June 2014 and is based in Prince Edward Island in the Maritimes area of Eastern Canada. The particular reason for posting it is that, unlike most plein air events, there is no charge for simply applying. The majority of plein air events raise some of their funding from artists who don't manage to get in. An average application fee would be about $40, so by the time you have been turned down for two or three events, you have grown a hole in your wallet or purse. If festivals aim to support artists perhaps they should raise their funds in some other way and those who don''t take scarce funds from tomorrow's painters should be acknowledged and supported. Another aspect of Montague Plein Air is it lasts for 5 days, so if you are going to travel, you will get a good painting holiday for your trouble.
If anyone comes across other plein air events which are supportive of artists as this one, by all means add them to this thread.
