Your Site For Artists Who Paint Outdoors

Hi all.  My niece, Kristen, is traveling to Ireland from the states next spring, I think around May. She is going with two or three other girls, they are all late twenties.  One of them has always wanted to go, and it is her birthday, so she wants to go over and rent a place, for a week.  Question.....where would be a good place for them to go?  Any good recommendations on places to stay?  Things to do, etc.?  Kristen is married, and isn't into partying a lot, I doubt her friends are either, although they would enjoy a pub now and then.  My niece loves to shop, but then I think she is thinking this will be more of a "stay in one place" kind of trip, and bike around, meet people, etc.  Any help would be appreciated!  Thank you in advance!  (no they won't be painting, but they like looking at art!)  My niece loves to travel and loves history.

Where else would they need to go other than the Sunny South East!!! but I'm biased! lol....seriously...there's so many places they'd love to see....Galway has it all in the West, Dingle and the ring of Kerry down south.....Donegal or the Antrim Coast up North....and best of all they'd love it here in Wexford...cos we're all here! No matter where they decide I'm sure they'll get a cead mile failte Elaine! Sure you could probably fit this wee Island in your back yard so they should think about getting around a small bit! I notice I've mentioned most places around the coast but that's cos I need to be near water! Amazing places inland too....Kilkenny being a great historical town. Oh decisions!! Hope they have a great time anyway!!
Thanks, Jane! I will pass on the information to Kristen. It all sounds wonderful to me.

elaine - I brought a few visitors ranging in age from 20's - 50's to Galway and they loved it. Galway city is lovely - great shops, restaurants and friendly and then you have Connemara on your doorstep which is beautiful (look at John Dinan's site).
Thank you. I will pass this information on too. Nice to hear all these things for when I go over too!

Ireland is not the easiest place to get around by public transport. Whether these ladies are going to hire a car would be a factor. Kenmare is a good base for seeing Kerry, and Dingle is a lively, popular little town out on the coast, but slightly more 'out on a limb'.
Thank you. I've heard of Dingle, as a good town to hear a lot of music. I'll pass the info on.
