Saturday, February 4, Botanic Gardens, 11 am. To include a visit to the open day exhibition of the Irish Society of Botanical Artists, who will be exhibiting upstairs in the Visitor Centre, where as well as their paintings, cards, prints, etc. being displayed, their artists will be available to give information on membership and their activities. Meet at 11 in the Botanic Gardens cafe.

With exotic blooms and interesting vistas, the gardens make an ideal venue for the painter. There are even quiet corners for contemplation and conceptual consideration. The greatest philosopher of the 20th Century, Wittgenstein, was a regular visitor in the 1940s, and his favourite step that he sat on for his conceptualizations, today, bears a bronze plaque in his memory.
