LANDSCAPE PAINTING EN PLEIN AIR

Mon 18th to Fri 22nd August 5 Day Workshop

For Improvers, Intermediate, Experienced or Advanced painters

10.00 to 4.30 each day

This is an outdoor painting workshop (weather permitting) where I teach my classic 'Six Steps' approach to creating great landscape paintings.

Roundstone is Ireland's 'Pont Aven' - the western French village where so many famous painters including Gauguin visited each year to paint 'en plein air' in the nineteenth century.

It is simply beautiful, with paintings at every turn - from the magnificent Twelve Bens mountain range, to small harbours, currachs and fishing boats, and then there's the hillside village itself, with lovely pubs, shops and restaurants.

My favourite place in Ireland to paint - I love going there to give workshops too!

Over the 5 days, you will learn the hidden or underlying principles that make great paintings, how to simplify the often complex landscape subjects you choose, how to develop strong designs and compositions, how harmonious colour schemes are planned, and how to bring your painting from a blank canvas to a strong finished painting.

We will meet indoors each day where I give my group demonstrations and tuition, and where we'll stay if weather is unsuitable for outdoor painting.

These workshops are most suited to artists with at least some experience, or more experienced or advanced artists who haven't previously attended one of my 'Six Step' workshops.
