Located just 3 km north of Dublin city centre the National Botanic Gardens are an oasis of calm and beauty and entry is free (not so colorful in Winter by can be very atmospheric!) The gardens also contain the National Herbarium and several historic wrought iron glasshouses,
I was told by a member of staff at the front desk that it is permitted to paint inside of the glasshouses provided we do not cause any obstruction what so ever or move or touch the plants. If you disobey these instructions your equipment and artwork will be confiscated and you will be interred head first in the compost heap!!
Meet for coffee at 11 am at John Kavanagh's pub, The Gravediggers.(no food until after 12 noon, Soup and toasties from then),
Re parking; Hopefully there will be space in Prospect Square. Otherwise there is a car park at the Gardens but it costs typically €4 for 3 hours.
There is easy access from pub to Botanic Gardens by a short walk through the Glasnevin Cemetery.

Looking foward to getting out again so under glass will be good in this weather. The compost heap might get my efforts
