Event Description

Have you noticed that almost everything now is called a "hub"? So this beautiful week-end, Saturday, July 27 we are meeting up in the Marine Hotel, Sutton (HUB!) at 11 am to decide on which of the local half a dozen subjects we are going to paint. Personally, I have the Bailey Lighthouse in mind, so if you don't see me for 6 months, it means I have been caught as an intruder in the area and locked up. Anyone for porridge? Otherwise there's the harbour, Sutton Strand, Barrow Beach, Howth Summit, several Martellos, dramatic sea cliffs, Howth Village, and all kinds of secret places I am not allowed to mention!

You need to bring a sense of humour as we are all out to enjoy ourselves on the day, in a relaxed manner. You just need the minimum of equipment and paint to make a small painting. It can be as small as a postcard. Or to get you started you could just sketch. We have had a few recent meet-ups in the Marine Hotel and what happens is this. We meet at 11 and have coffee, chat and the craic until 12 when we go and paint. We then go and paint until about 3, when we return to the Marine for more coffee and chat, or a light lunch or something from their carvery and depart about 4. It's not part of the meet-up that we show our paintings. That's a brief sketch of what we do. Look forward to meeting up with you. Sean.
