Event Description

This coming Saturday , we are heading to the Owencarrow Viaduct to paint and record  its structure  in its setting, nestled in a quiet valley sheltered by mountains on either side. There's plenty there to paint if this viaduct doesn't rock your boat, you have the Rhododendrons,   the hawthorn  bushes, the gorse, the owencartow river,  bogs, old sheds and cottages, .. bridge etc etc

In 1925, a terrible disaster occurred on the night of the 30th of Jan at around 8pm .The winds that night rose to gusts of up to 120 miles per hour and blew the train off the tracks killing 4 passengers and injuring 8..

The remains of the viaduct stand testament  to the memories of those who lost their lives there and a glimpse of our National  Heritage., as it stands today nearly 100 years later.

Dont forget your lunch , chair.

All welcome.
